About Purpose Tutoring

Purpose Tutoring is growing and seeking new tutors and skilled professionals who want to teach students one-on-one. We serve a wide range of students and subjects and are looking to match qualified tutors with clients who need their particular expertise.

Subjects We Are Looking For

Tutors may specialize in one or more of the following:

  • Core academics: Math, science, English and writing, social studies

  • Test preparation: SAT, ACT, AP courses

  • College admissions: essays, scholarships, application strategy

  • Specialized or niche areas: Business, economics, computer science, public speaking, study skills, executive functioning, and related topics

If you have strong knowledge in a subject and enjoy teaching it, we are interested in talking with you.

What You Will Do

As a tutor with Purpose Tutoring, you will:

  • Work one-on-one with students in your subject area

  • Help with homework, projects, and assigned coursework

  • Prepare students for quizzes, tests, and major exams

  • Regularly gauge student progress and adjust your approach as needed

  • Use creativity, clear explanations, and examples to build true understanding

  • Communicate with students and, when appropriate, parents or guardians about goals and progress

  • Maintain a positive, encouraging, and collaborative learning environment

  • Act as a coach and support system for the student, not just a homework helper

Tutoring sessions typically take online.

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong subject matter knowledge in at least one area listed above

  • Prior teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or coaching experience is a plus

  • Clear communicator who can explain concepts in simple, accessible language

  • Reliable, professional, and organized

  • Positive, student-centered attitude and a genuine desire to help students grow
