Purpose Tutoring was founded in Charlotte and built for families everywhere. Today we serve students nationwide through online tutoring, with in-person support available in select cities.

Meet JD Hopper: Founder of Purpose Tutoring
Purpose Tutoring was founded by JD Hopper, a mathematics instructor who, in addition to his tutoring practice, has taught classrooms at Charlotte Latin School, widely regarded as one of the best private schools in North Carolina.
JD grew Purpose Tutoring beyond a solo practice into a team. He brings on outstanding tutors from trusted circles, including former UNC-Chapel Hill classmates, connections through Queen City Toastmasters (a 70+ member public speaking community for which he serves as president), and other highly qualified educators and professionals from his network.
Today, JD spends most of his time running the company, matching tutors, and building systems that help every tutor deliver a consistent, high-quality experience, both in Charlotte and online. He still takes on new students when his schedule allows, because the work itself is what he loves most.
